Purchased In-store
Your Geek Squad Protection Total Plan coverage will begin on the date of purchase.


Purchased Online
Your Geek Squad Protection Total Plan coverage will begin five days after you receive the confirmation email informing you that your item has shipped.

Your Geek Squad Protection Total Plan expiry date depends on the length of term purchased. For example, if you purchased a three-year Plan, your Product Total Plan will expire exactly three years from the date it started.

All Geek Squad Protection Total Plans are only available at the initial time of product purchase (or up to 30 days after purchase) with terms depending on the type of product purchased. Once the coverage term has passed, the plan cannot be renewed.

Yes, all Geek Squad Protection Total Plans are transferable. If you’re selling your product or giving it as a gift, you can transfer your coverage to the new owner. Just click here to find out how to contact us. When you call, provide the name of the person you’re transferring the plan to. The transferee must then contact us and provide their address, email and phone number. If you’re paying monthly for your plan, simply have the transferee provide us with their banking authorization information. The plan holder must have the original documentation to receive coverage.

You can cancel your plan for any reason within the first 30 days of purchase and receive a full refund by visiting your local Best Buy store. If you cancel your Plan after 30 days you may be subject to a Service Recovery Fee. You can find detailed information in your Plan's Terms and Conditions. In-store
If you brought your item into a retail location to have repairs completed, you should have received a receipt which identifies your Work Order #. You can check the status of your claim online now!

In-store
If your product is eligible for coverage, the associate in-store will likely ask you if you'd like to add a plan to your order. If they don't ask you, feel free to inquire whether your product qualifies.


Online
For any product that is eligible for a Geek Squad Protection Total Plan, you'll have the chance to add a plan as you add your item to the cart.

Yes, accessories included with your wireless device in the original manufacturer's packaging are covered for a total of five claims. See your Terms and Conditions for full coverage details or click here to find out how to contact us.

If your wireless device is determined to be defective you may choose one of the following service options:


  • Rapid Exchange
    We supply you with a return courier package to ship your defective product. Once we receive your defective device, we will courier you a replacement device.
  • Advance Exchange
    We ship you a return courier package and your replacement device. You then must ship your defective device to us in the return courier package. To select this option you will be charged a refundable Advance Exchange Deposit. Once we receive your defective device, we will refund the deposit paid to your credit card. Please note that your deposit will not be refunded if we do not receive your defective product within 30 days of you receiving the replacement device.

Yes, we protect your device and valuable files by offering virus, spyware and internet security options for desktops, laptops and Android or Windows tablets. You have the option to have security features loaded at the time of purchase or within 30 days of purchasing your device. Visit our Online Support site to learn more about adding security features to your device. If you are self-installing, please have your original invoice available.

On the 1st and 15th of each month, we will send your HD Movie Rental PINs to the email address that we have on file for you. If you change your email address, please remember to notify us immediately. As HD Movie Rental PINs cannot be provided retroactively, ensure that we have your latest email on file at all times.
